Corporate Digital recorders
Corporate digital recorders are used for different applications. There are embedded, mobile, hard drive backup or PC-based digital recorders. Manufacturers such as Sony, Samsung, Pelco, TransVu and Arena all manufacture digital recorders.
Digital recorders may be used to record and store closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage; many make provision for audio recording as well. Modern corporate digital recorders make it easy to search for footage based on date, time, camera and event. Settings like frame rate and quality may be set in order to optimise disk space usage.
Mobile digital recorders are portable and very popular. The TransVu mobile digital model offers features such as provision for up to eight camera inputs, simultaneous JPEG recording and MPEG-4 transmission, motion detection, two audio inputs, recording rate capability of 25PPS (on PAL) and 30PPS (on NTSC), six configurable alarm inputs and location tracking via GPS.
The Samsung SVR-440 is an embedded, standalone system that is cost-effective and intended for small businesses. An embedded system’s internal architecture is based on a real-time, purpose designed embedded core; this makes it immune to virus attacks and optimises reliability.
The SVR-440 system supports the Triplex function, which allows network monitoring and playback while recording. It uses the MPEG-4 high performance compression algorithm for maximised disk space usage. It may easily be used in chain stores, due to the optional Integrated Network Supply feature, which makes it compatible with CMS (Centralised Management Software) for several digital video recorders.
Corporate digital recorders are not only used for conventional security, but also in the fields of gaming, banking, systems integration and retail.
