Many things make up the parts of a security system and if we have to summarise an all-encompassing system under three headings, they would perimeter intruder detection, an alarm system and an access control system.  Perimeter security includes systems like electric fencing and CCTV cameras that protect the property’s perimeter.  Combined, these two systems may prove extremely effective.  Just inside the perimeter, motion detection sensors can be placed about the property strategically as a next line of defence.

Access control is very important too; in a private residential application, it would probably amount to remote control of electric vehicle and pedestrian gates and garage doors, supplemented with an intercom system.  An alarm system is usually the last line of defence and alerts you of intruders while they are breaking into the house via the circuit breaker sensors mounted on doors and windows and the motion detectors in the living spaces.  Of course, perimeter security features like electric fences and garden motion detectors are often also connected to the alarm as an advance warning system.
