Choosing an intercom system for the home

The intercom system as we knew it a few years ago was limited to a unit by the front door or the gate and a control panel inside the house. Things have come a long way since then, and as technology has become available so have more and more features been added to it. As a result a modern intercom system offers more security and features than any of the older ones. Intercoms were once restricted to office buildings and apartments, but they are now becoming commonplace in residential homes, especially in South Africa. A wireless intercom system is not that expensive these days, and it is extremely easy to install. On the other hand the older wired systems are difficult to install, they involve workers being in many otherwise private parts of your home, and they are expensive.

Protecting your home and your family, needless to say, comes number one on your list. If you use a video intercom system you can see who is at your door or gate before deciding on letting them in. If you don’t know who is there on the screen you don’t have to let them gain entrance. It is also possible to set up the system so that it is movement sensitive, recording anything that moves. If you go out for a while you can monitor the system and see exactly who has called and when by the recordings taken. Intercom systems are important.
